. . .discovered an interesting life hack. Okay, it’s not that interesting but it is tasty. I like hot chocolate once in a while, but it gets boring. Right? So I added instant coffee crystals (per suggestions on the box of hot chocolate), and lo’ and behold I get unboring hot chocolate. Alright, so it’s not the greatest news in the world but it is different.
I’ve started yet another story. Wouldn’t it be nice if I’d finish one? I think I have some great ideas but I seem to be a bit short in the follow through, part of the writing business. I like my characters. I believe they are interesting. But I already think it’s boring. If I think it’s boring, my readers certainly will, right?
I follow a few writers’ blogs, and when I read them they talk about their characters as if they could leap off the page. Maybe that’s marketing. But my characters just don’t feel that three dimensional to me. What can I say? I have a hard time turning off my inner editor (another phrase from yet another writing book I picked up somewhere).
. . . managed to get most of our Christmas presents bought. Don’t even talk to me about wrapped. They are all still sitting in the spare bedroom daring me to get the patience to start wrapping. I think, however, I’ll continue a long tradition of panicking at the last minute and running out for gift bags! I still have a few thing to pick up, and then I’ll be done. I’m never satisfied with the gifts I buy. I always feel like I’m short changing someone. Especially my kids.
WHY THE HELL is it so hard to buy for your grown children? Sure, they always seem to buy what they want for themselves, not leaving much on the old wish list for Mom to pick from, but still…. it should be easy. They are your children after all. On the other hand, I still keep seeing the boy who liked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the who liked Barbies. Meh.
Alright, I’m out of here. I think I can get 1500 words out today before I go to work at retail Hell.
